FRIDAY THE 13TH PARTS 1-3 (DVD)

It's THREE times the terror with the recent release of Friday The 13th Parts 1 - 3 on DVD. With the new version out in theaters, it’s time to revisit the originals. Paramount has released a GREAT set of collectible DVD’s to own for the first three parts of the Friday The 13th franchise.

First is an uncut, deluxe edition of the original Friday the 13th. See Jason’s mommy terrorize the poor campers again in this digitally remastered version of the film. This movie has its cheesy moments, but it’s still as creepy now as it was back then. The DVD includes the uncut version of this classic slasher film and some bonus features that include a reunion of the original cast. Be sure to watch this particular feature right after the film to see how much the cast has changed over time!

Moving on to Part 2...

Picking up right after his mother’s killing spree, Jason wastes no time in getting revenge in this chilling sequel. He doesn’t have his famous hockey mask yet in Part 2, but that doesn’t mean he’s not as vicious. The poor counselors that head to Camp Crystal Lake quickly find that the legend of Jason is very real. With pretty much the entire main cast getting wiped out by the masked lunatic, one girl is left to try and escape the camp alive. However, her attempts to escape Jason lead her to a disturbing discovery towards the end. Part 2 is the first film where we actually get to see Jason in action. Before this one, the only time we get to see him is in the lake during Part 1. So I guess this is his "formal introduction". The special effects are obviously nowhere near the films today, but for its time this must have been a damn scary film. The best part of this Deluxe Edition DVD is the remastered picture. It really made the experience of watching this classic film a whole lot better.

Finally we have, Jason in 3-D!!!

In Part 3, we get to see Jason wreak havoc on some poor campers and a motorcycle gang. It's funny when a group of badass bikers find out just how "bad" they are when they meet Jason! To bring home the three-dimensional experience, 2 pairs of 3-D glasses are included with the DVD. If you don’t want to watch in 3-D, there’s also the option of watching it in 2-D. What’s unique about this release is that it’s the first time the 3-D version has been shown on DVD. It’s not the best one of the series, but Part 3 is great for a night of watching campy horror flicks.
