Other than being Madonna’s ex-husband, Guy Ritchie does have a job as a movie director. That kind of thing can get overlooked when you’ve been married to her. Having developed quite a reputation as a filmmaker, he’s made such films as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. His latest film RocknRolla is a smart and humorous gangster film that takes you on a wild ride through London. To make a compelling gangster film is a difficult task. To throw in a little comedy without making the film look like a joke is even harder. Well in RocknRolla, Ritchie pulls off both by adding another hit to his list of films. Among the many details I liked about the film, the one that stood out to me the most is the constant sharp and witty dialogue all throughout. The movie is out now on DVD and it stars Tom Wilkinson, Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton, Jeremy Piven and rapper Ludacris. To me, RocknRolla is one film that scores high among the many that have been recently released on DVD.
