Blindness (DVD)

Imagine losing your eyesight in a split-second. You could be driving on the road or doing any one of your normal daily activities. Suddenly, you're blind. That’s the start of the brilliant movie called Blindness. When a mysterious epidemic that causes blindness strikes a city, the people affected are thrown into quarantine. Not wanting to be separated from her recently blinded husband, a woman (Julianne Moore) fakes her blindness so she can be with her husband in quarantine. Surrounded by everyone that’s blind, she’s the only one that can see. She now has to take on the role as a savior for a small group of people. However, as the story moves on there are some things that would be better off not seeing. She has to witness some traumatic events after some of the people start spiraling into madness. This film holds up a mirror to the ugly side of the human race that we don’t like to face. It shows a very honest and troubling picture at how depraved humans can get under extreme circumstances. It’s a film that made me angry, but really made me think. Honestly, it’s one of the most thought provoking films in recent years and will definitely stay in my memory for a long time. Overall, Blindness is an apocalyptic thriller that ranks up there with films like 28 Days Later and I Am Legend.

Yeah, it’s that good.
